Peter on a date (the final instalment)

Well, this is it (any resemblance to a current movie not intended)!  Sorry to have kept you all waiting so long for this mother of all dates, but virile as he is, Peter the Pirate is still human and needs to rest.  He's not all about women and romances, you know.  He is also a man's man, indulging in male activities like roaming the high seas and plundering the occasional unsuspecting cargo ship.

For this final date, we decided to name the ballerina, Catherine.  If you remember her, she's Bella's friend and like Bella, is far from your typical sweet young thing.  But unlike Bella, she doesn't have any insecurity and she views Peter as an equal.  Peter had to go all out to woo her.  So be prepared to be blown away by a romance of epic proportions, those unseen of since Casablanca days.

The date started innocently enough, with Catherine and Peter indulging in a spot (sport) of exercise.  Here they are, doing pull-ups.  Catherine believes that with her ballet training, she won't lose out to Peter.  Look at the muscles on her arms!

They decided to move on to swimming.  Although not endowed with curves, Catherine was not ashamed of her boyish figure.  In fact, she believes that her streamlined figure would allow her to swim faster than Peter.

Peter was concerned that the date was turning out to be a mini-Olympic and that instead of being his girlfriend, Catherine was fast becoming a buddy.  He stepped the date up a notch and started teasing her flirtatiously.  With her inherent competitive spirit, Catherine chased after him and they had a great time dodging around obstacles in the park.  Doesn't this scene look like something from a Bollywood movie?

Exhausted from their physical exertions, Peter and Catherine laid down on the grass.  Unfortunately, it was fall and the trees were shedding flowers and leaves.  Quick!  name the movie this scene is reminiscent of?  Hint:  it features a certain vampire who sparkles in sunlight.

The date ended with Peter and Catherine snuggling together under a starlit sky, gazing at the constellations.  Have you ever tried that?  You should, it is very romantic.  My experience was made all the more meaningful because on that very night, earth witnessed the biggest meteor shower ever.  Of course, we had to share that night with hundreds of other Singaporeans cramped onto Changi jetty.  But the idea is still romantic.

So, don't you agree that this is one of the best dates ever?  Not needing to worry that she is older, or that they had a past history or that there is a love rivalry, Catherine was able to enjoy herself as she is.  Peter found himself falling in love with her free spirit and challenged by her competitive nature.

Alas!  Sad to disappoint you, dear readers. But the date was all a set-up.  It was a photoshoot for next month's Simply Her magazine, being the feature article on "What to do for dates in Singapore".  Here are Peter and Catherine with their stylists.

But, but, that shouldn't stop you from imagining this as a real date.  I know I could sure use the romance in my life, vicarious and fictitious as it may be.

And so this concludes Peter's escapades.  So, gals and the one guy reader out there (and no, it's not Henry, who has more interesting things to do than be bothered with such childish competitions), cast your vote on who do you think makes the best girlfriend for Peter.  He is tired of his wanderlust days.
