THE BIG DEBUT

First of all, a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who have stopped by our humble stall over the weekend, at the Red Dot Museum.  I know you all have better things to do, like burn up a lantern or two (especially those which play high-pitched music in the loop), stuff yourselves silly with mooncakes and wax lyrical at the clouded full moon.

Your presence meant a lot to us because we were the newbies at this month's MAAD and we didn't know what to expect.

Tinkerbel arrived early and set up our stall.  There was a sense of expectancy as we awaited our first visitors.

To be honest, we were rather intimidated by the other stalls, who had lots of wares, all tastefully displayed.  We felt rather embarassed by our motley crew of three and our handful of crafts.  Our packaging and display look so amateurish next to the others.

But reinforcements came and the whole team banded together to greet the world.  Our illustrious arm, The Felt Team, also made their debut at the stall.

The atmosphere changed altogether when you all swarmed around our tiny stall and started making purchases.  If people didn't know better, they would have thought that the Great Singapore Sale never ended its run.  Recession, what recession?

But we are not all about money of course.  We hope that the visit had been an educational one for you.  I took a break from manning the stall to do some snooping around.  No lah, not spy on competitors but to see what good design is all about.  Hopefully, we can improve on what we have to offer.

MAAD was celebrating Children's Day and children get to participate in Double Portrait.  They get to draw an artist while the artist draws them.  They then get to exchange their portraits.  My niece was privileged enough to have the great MOOF (he who does the posters for MAAD) do a portrait of her.

They both looked rather pleased with their masterpiece, don't you think?

All in all, it had been an exciting and tiring weekend for the HSH team.  We are glad we started this together and grateful for all the encouragement and endorsement we have received.  We certainy hope to be back with more, after we catch up with our sleep, housework and of course, day-time work.

P/S:  I did some calculations and realised that I spent more buying items from other stalls than I would ever make from our stall.  Sigh, I don't think I make a very good businesswoman.  Better stick to my daytime job.
